Event 2

Anne Niemetz graduated form Ucla in 2004, she studied media arts in Germany before getting her masters at Ucla in performance and stage design. As a student at Ucla she completed a number of student projects, one project in particular was “Stretching La”. This was a performance where the performers trigged sound samples with the various movements of their suspenders. The performance was lie at a fashion show in 2013.  When each of the suspenders was pulled it would trigger a response form a pre-recorded voice of a specific actor and announce a set of various statements given.
Revolve was another project that Anne Niemetz talked about, it was a collaboration among a couple people such as professor Brown. This was utilizing a suit to control a sound environment, the dramaturgy light was based on falling asleep, deep sleep, REM, and wakefulness. This proved to show the importance of parts on the circadian Rhythm, the light sensors on the dancer’s wrists so that she can be seen and expose her wrists as well. The Auditory Beats showed the connectedness of how two difference frequencies when played together you can hear a two Hrtz difference. When these frequencies are played together you are dealing with a sound that can be heard and also and experience that can be felt.
Anne Niemetz went on to talk about how wearable technology would be a growing field and she along with her colleges are trying to develop wearable technology with fashion. She talked about how the technology was being minimized to show just how small the technology could be, she showed this example with a minitarization of art that could fit on the human nail. She continued to talk about “WOW” World of Wearable’s award show. This show takes place in Las Vegas every year and this shows purpose is to show off wearable art costumes that were made for the stage in her words “Big and Bold”. The event has over 50,000 attendants every year and Anne Neimetz had some of her students actually participate in this show, they were showing how wearable’s could be fashion.
